Stock Watch Week of 3/19/07

I have to admit that trading these past few weeks has not been for the feint of heart (certainly, myself included). Trading early last week saw some positive gains from my watch list, not as much towards the end of the week.

This week, I'll still be cautious, but I am watching:

An interesting trading day... still bad news for subprime industry but other stocks are soaring. Dollar General gapped up over 25% on news of its privatization. Other stocks had huge breakouts today. CIMT 117.14% , LJPC (which somehow was omitted from my watch list after having a breakout on Friday) up 30.29%, LMRA 24.38%. WITM 17.65%

We were lucky to have ARGA on watch which had a breakout on Friday 3/9/07. Today it closed at its high of the day $1.85, with a gain 23.33%.

Markets seems to have settled down and rebounded a bit today --- much more green on the screen from the watch lists.

It's very encouraging so I had to take a few snapshots. ;-) Be sure to check out the Day's Range and you will see how high some of these stocks can travel during the trading day and how much more profit you could have. I don't know that it is consistent, but I noticed the 10/60 downward cross,( i.e. the 10-min MA crossed below the 60-min MA), near the high of the day at $2.35, and it looked like NNPP had lost its steam so I exited that trade in the green. The stock eventually continued its down trend and lost 1.36%. Yesterdays winner CRYO closed down 13.80% and METH also closed slightly down, just 0.40%.

Stock Results: 3/5/07

The markets have not settled down, but nonetheless stocks on the watch list held green: POTP 2.5% GST 10% BVSN 5.21% CYRO 9.09% SGXP 5.44% METH 4.47% RGBL 10.37% to name a few.

Of course, closing green doesn't tell the entire story of the trading day. The stocks on the watch list are very volatile and can be up 10 - 15 - 20% or more during the course of the trading day. It's tough sometimes to keep in mind what your trading goals are as a swing or day trader...i.e. to average 10% every transaction. In a market like this, it's even more important to be a disciplined trader. I'll continue to watch the stocks on the list this week looking for positive entry signals bearing in mind the overall market sentiment.
