So my last post was in June after changing to a new job which requires lots of study and travel. While I'm happy about the job, my trading has slowed to a crawl, which turned out pretty good based on what's been happening in the market these past few months. But I'm ready to get back on the saddle.
For this last quarter of the year, I expect to make a few trades, selecting stocks from stockbee's 1500% growth, muddy's buy and hold and IBD100. I know I can't resist, so I will also have my short term watches as well.
Happy Trading!
I just got a new job and have been swamped since the end of May. Remember...multiple streams? One stream is income from employment. So I expect to be busy for a while. I'm going to try weekly posts instead of daily.
Happy trading!

Didn't get to report results on a daily basis this week, but overall there were early gains this week most of which were given back by the end of the week. That's why it is important to know when to take your profits.

On Friday, NNPP made a closed up for a gain of 10.50%.
I'm watching NNPP for a short term play. It bounced nicely off its support and made a bullish move above its median bollinger.
A move through its resistance of $2.80 would certainly be nice, but what about the ride to get there? There's about 15% between its current price $2.42 and resistance price $2.80. Back on 4/8/07, NNPP made a similar move from support up to resistance in about 5 days.
Definitely worth a look.

Here's the chart of Semitool Inc, SMTL. This stock gained 3.71% on Friday to reverse its previous downward trend.
Some recent news can account for Semitool's current oversold condition - 1. they recently cut their Q2 revenue outlook and 2. they were downgraded from a buy to a hold by A.G.Edwards.
Back in late January 07, SMTL reversed a similar downward trend off of the lower bollinger band to make a 27% gain in two weeks. The current chart & indicators are similar to their late January setup however, an earnings call is scheduled for Tues 4/24.

I got into China VOIP and Digital, CVDT, 2 days ago at $1.24. It closed Friday at $1.47. That's a nice 18% gain in two days.
Can it continue this new upward trend? And, if so, for how long? The stock only started trading in Sept. 06, so there's no history of the chart being setup the way that it is now.
I'll be protecting my gains, but I'll also be looking for more.
Hi, my name is Janice and I am NOT a Day Trader.
Wish I could be, but right now I'm not. I'm a full-time I.T. worker.
What I do is select a watch list of stocks that I follow for the week. I usually wait for green or some other indicator (could be breaking through some resistance price), before I buy. I limit my losses and I exit those trades once I've gained a certain percent. It usually happens same day or few days, but could be few weeks.
During the week, I may add a few more stocks to watch, but for the most part I'm following my watch list. I've lost out by not watching my "fails" so by keeping my watch list smaller, I'm forced to watch the fails.
I use several screening filters (force swing, low RSI, fast K, touching lbb/ubb, crossing median bb,etc.). I also eyeball the chart before I add a stock to the watch list. Based on the filter, I add the selections into categories Reversals, Breakouts and Continuations. That's it.
As I am building my portfolio with short term gains, I am also looking for long term holds. For that, I'd like to thank Laura, Muddy and Stockbee for their discussions on "Going Long" and "How to Find a Stock that Moves 1500% in a Year".

Disappointing results from breakout candidates - all red. Even ZROS, which had early positive gains in the day and traded as high as $1.93, could not maintain its momentum and closed down -6.13%.
I have to admit that trading these past few weeks has not been for the feint of heart (certainly, myself included). Trading early last week saw some positive gains from my watch list, not as much towards the end of the week.
This week, I'll still be cautious, but I am watching:

Markets seems to have settled down and rebounded a bit today --- much more green on the screen from the watch lists.
It's very encouraging so I had to take a few snapshots. ;-) Be sure to check out the Day's Range and you will see how high some of these stocks can travel during the trading day and how much more profit you could have. I don't know that it is consistent, but I noticed the 10/60 downward cross,( i.e. the 10-min MA crossed below the 60-min MA), near the high of the day at $2.35, and it looked like NNPP had lost its steam so I exited that trade in the green. The stock eventually continued its down trend and lost 1.36%. Yesterdays winner CRYO closed down 13.80% and METH also closed slightly down, just 0.40%.
